Meet the volunteers
Cathy Harvey
Chairperson and one of the founding members of the group. Runs working parties on a Tuesday. Licence holder for Dormouse surveys and runs Nature Club in the School Holidays.
Steve Todd, Claire Staverly
Steve, Working party manager, committee member. Has many years of conservation management experience.
Claire, recently joined the group, passionate about wildlife. Committee member, organises activities and events for the volunteers. Regularly attends working parties.Cathy Tyler
Moved to Bridport 5 years ago and joined the volunteers to meet new people. Cath is committee Secretary, main lead in organising events and social media secretary. Cath is also part way through getting her Dormouse survey licence and attends regular working parties.
Kevin Trott, Cathy Harvey, Steve Todd
The three working party leaders. Steve and Kevin run Wednesday working parties throughout the year. Also some Sundays in the winter season. All three are first aid trained and DBS checked.
Sal Robinson
Sal recently stepped down from the committee and treasurer after 12 years.
Finding new ways to volunteer, including in helping with Nature Club, Dormouse surveys and admin.
Jon Harvey
Founding member of the Volunteer group. Worked for the last 14 years helping in all aspects of the volunteer group. Passionate about the wild flower meadow and grows many plug plants to help generate new areas.
Jim Davidson
Volunteer, helps with Nature Club and Dormouse surveys and helps raise money running stalls.
Dave McIntosh
Dave joined us in the last 18 months. Very keen wood worker, making items from coppiced Hazel. Regular working party volunteer
Roly Boughton
Volunteer since 2014. Committee member and works for the Forestry Commission.
Roly led the project to regenerate Cooper’s Wood after Ash Die Back.Max Cantrell
Max our youngest volunteer, passionate about educating people about insects. Very knowledgable about wildlife in general. Good communicator and helps with Nature Club.
Rob Chaldecott
Rob volunteered for many years with Dorset Wildlife Trust. On moving to Bridport joined the Allington Hillbillies. A keen birder, Rob leads wildlife walks for the volunteers. Has helped record Dormice sightings for several years.
Jane Rouse
Regular volunteer with the Tuesday group. Helps with Nature Club and running the Dormouse Surveys.
Kate Myton
Kate volunteers in the winter months on Sundays. Also helps out with stalls and other activities to raise money.
Chris and Stan Toombs
Founding volunteer members, Chris is project manager for the Flower Meadow. Stan self taught carpenter made the signs on the hill and made the memorial WW1 bench.
Lisa Butchart
Keen photographer, captures the changing seasons and wildlife on the hill. Photos can be seen on our Allington Hillbilly Facebook page.
Kevin Trott
Professional Thatcher, one of our original Volunteers and committee member. In 2025 has just qualified as working party leader.
